This past weekend athletes from all over the world made the trek to Long Beach California for the 2015 World Jiu Jitsu Championships (Mundials). From the Caio Terra Academy, Professors Yuri Simoes, Kim Terra, Vitor Paschoal along with lower belts Kristina Barlan, Kaniela Kahuanui, Benji Silva, Ryan Walsh, Rudson Mateus, Paulo Martins, Daniel Ton-Denny, Shirley Yeh, James and Marcus Laffen made the trip down to compete. In life like in jiu jitsu there are many ups and downs. Over the course of the four days I saw many dreams fall short and my heart went out to each competitor because I know the sacrifices they have made.
Although we fight alone we are never alone. Our victories and our defeats belong to all of us. Congrats to Rudson on being crowned 2015 Purple Belt world champion. Keep chasing your dreams and just like Rudson one day they may come true.
At the end of the day we brought home one gold medalist, and 5 bronze medalist. As proud as I am of everyone who made the podium I’m prouder of the way our team supported each other in the good times and the bad. This is only the beginning, we are CTA!!
