This past weekend was the 2023 IBJJF Santa Cruz open gi and no gi tournament! On day 1, we started off slow, falling behind by over 100 points. Never deterred, the team battled back, and at the end of the day, we were able to secure the team trophy!
On day 2, no gi, we started off much better and, despite being outnumbered, took the lead early and held onto till the end.
Congrats to everyone who competed; you guys all did amazing. None of this would be possible without the sacrifice of so many of you, stepping out of your comfort zones and competing in the open divisions. No matter the outcome, you will all be better tomorrow because of the work you did today.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support; when you are down in a match, sometimes hearing people cheering for you really does make all the difference.
