San Jose, CA’s Institute of Martial Arts Head Instructor and 5x World Champion Caio Terra gets interviewed by Budo Videos during the inaugural World Jiu Jitsu Expo May 12
Q: The World Championships are coming right up – what are your expectations?
Caio Terra:
I’ve been training, started training a lot. My camp starting soon – I have the best expectations. I’m actually very motivated to do the worlds this year. I think I got some new things to show that I’ve been saving for the Worlds so I’m very excited.
Q: Will you compete at rooster?
Caio Terra:
I will compete at rooster for sure. My weight is already low. I’m actually tried actually gaining some weight this week competing for Jeff Glover’s fight. My weight is low already so I can do rooster for sure no problem
Q: You metioned training camps – you usually have training camps just for smaller guys – is that true this year?
Caio Terra:
No actually this time it’s going to be all weights but we have a lot of black belts, small black belts. We’re actually bring other black belts too. A lot of black belts are coming in. Leandro Lo is coming to help us as well – one of the best lightweights of today. I think it will be a great camp for everybody.
Q: How bout for your training? Do you train with the bigger guys too or do you just train with smaller guys before competition?
Caio Terra:
No I train with the bigger too. Once I get very close to the competition maybe when I’m doing rooster I don’t go too much against someone that is really big because it might hurt my body. Since I’m too small when I get close to 124 I have to take care, be careful just someone don’t fall because I’m already tired as well. Normally I train with bigger guys as well – that’s not a problem more when it’s closer to not get injured before a tournament.
