Celebrating all of Caio Terra, Flavio Meier and Augusto “Quiexinho”‘s student’s hard work and determination especially those who most recently received their stripes.
As we all work towards the future and progression we take a look back when San Jose, Ca’s World Class Brazilian Jiu Jiu Instructor and Champion Flavio Meier’s childhood experience in Martial Arts….
The tournament on the picture above was called International Martial Arts Tournament where people from all over the world competed in Sao Paulo, Brazil . The young Flavio Meier had to travel all the way from Rio de Janerio to compete in five matches in which his opponents were all older than him. He victoriously took home the GOLD at thirteen years old. Flavio Meier was also crowned Rio de Janeiro Youth Champion prior to the win on the above picture. He was training 3 years before receiving this prestigious award starting his martial arts journey at age 10. Although, he dabbled in Judo at age 6.
“When I was young I didn’t realize how much marital arts helped me…. adolescence is a time where most kids feel insecure and have a hard time – I didn’t realize it then but it was because of martial arts that I had a healthy self esteem and self confidence. I want to let all my students know to keep training, have perseverance, take jiu jitsu as a life style, enjoy training jiu jitsu at the academy and most importantly enjoy your experience.”
