The 2016 No Gi worlds was a life time in the making. What started as a dream, turned into a reality and I couldn’t be happier. Every day I wake up I get to work with such amazing people, from Hawaii to France and it’s truly a blessing. I don’t have affiliates, I have friends and they all motivate me to be a better person, coach and mentor. This weekend as a team we took home first in the masters division, 2nd in the adult division and 3rd in the Juvenile division at the IBJJF No Gi world championships. Overall we were the team who scored the most points in the event!
These titles don’t belong to CTA alone, they would not be possible without so many people. First I’d like to thank Comprido and Felipe Costa, the heart and soul of Brasa, thank you for all the years of friendship. Professors Roberto Traven, Demian Maia, and Eduardo Telles, you guys are legends and I’m honored to consider you my teammates. I’d also like to send a special thankyou to Ralph Gracie, if it wasn’t for you there would be no BJJ in the bay area and this event probably would have not happened here.
There were a lot of individual performances I would like to talk about and many more people I would like to thank but then the post would read like a book!
Congrats again to everyone who competed, thank you to all the people who supported the competitors and most importantly thanks to God for keeping everyone safe. This is just the beginning!
